Thank You for The Music, and the Songs I am Singing

I‘m nothing special, in fact I’m a bit of a bore. If I tell a joke, you’ve probably heard it before

But I would say : I am special somehow to some people, but I’ve got to admit I might be a bit of a bore. When I feel it, I’ll be quiet, or I will transform myself into a tiny silly girl. I do not practice dried-humor quite often, but who knows! I might not realize it though, but I hope I really DON’T.

But I have a talent, a wonderful thing

I am blessed being born with talents, and whether or not they are wonderful, I guess they make me different. They me  unique (wink wink!). Everyone is blessed with a wonderful thing. Can you name yours? Telling people what your talents are, is not a practice of impolite manner, yet it’s a practice of appreciating yourself. But words rule! meaning one might be considered hmm “get a bit above oneself” if the choice of words shows arrogance. So, I think one should be wise with the choice of words- I guess that’s a wonderful talent too?? Eeek…
Cause everyone listens when I start to sing
I’m so grateful and proud

And I would say: But when I start to sing, everyone starts to talk to each other- pretending I wasn’t there singing, hehe.

You know Karaoke is indeed a part of the Asian culture. They seem to enjoy spending time together singing in a karaoke, first and foremost with friends, and loved ones. And I am so grateful to do karaoke with my good friends. What else could I ask??

All I want is to sing it out loud

Yes, and tell to the world I’ve been blessed surrounded by great people.

CHORUS
So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing
Thanks for all the joy they’re bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty

I don’t think think I can live without music. Life would be such a bore without rhythm, lyrics, and humming along. I have been blessed with complete senses. I really have no idea how it feels when one is not able to listen for they are “special”.   Like my elementary school students learn:

I speak with my mouth

I taste with my tongue

I hear with my ears

I smell with my nose

I see with my eyes

What would life be, without a song or a dance, what are we
So I say, thank you for the music, for giving it to me.

Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
Mm-mm, she says I began to sing long before I could talk

Baby talks! caretaker speech, infant-directed talk (IDT). I began to say “Ma, ma,” refers to Mama-mother-Mutti or Maem ( bahasa) -mealtime. Only recently did I talk to my sister. While talking to her, I heard my 4-month-old super cute nephew began to chatter. His chatter was beyond my vocabulary, yet his voice sounded like a happy tune in my ears. Kangen bo! (miss him)

And I’ve often wondered, how did it all start
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart like a melody can
Well, whoever it was, I’m a fan

I am wondering the sound of music thousand years ago. How did it sound? I guess they used seashells to capture a heart with melody. I am wondering how they appreciated music like we do now. Perhaps they did not use any musical instruments to produce songs, yet they were only passive listeners?and never really made any piece of music.

Baby-grand Piano

CHORUS
So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing
Thanks for all the joy they’re bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be, without a song or a dance, what are we
So I say, thank you for the music, for giving it to me.

Are you singing along with me ? Good! the more the merrier , because then I don’t have to sing it aloud myself, you know I guess you’ve been warned.

I’ve been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair
I wanna sing it out to everybody
What a joy, what a life, what a chance

And I’d say: I am so lucky, I am the girl with black hair, and I do not think I will have it dyed  But I guess this isn’t about the color of the black hair I have, yet the music that has been giving me a joy, and a life, and a chance to enjoy it either alone or with my beloved ones, and my love one. Songs do give me some surge of positive energy, just like this song by ABBA that has given me an inspiration to write, to know things I did not care to know before- like baby talks, the music thousand years ago. All in all, I am just someone who is into writing, not necessarily being creative.

Last, but not least (is this a formal speech??), my deepest appreciation to ABBA – Thank You for the Music- for the inspiration for Music discussion on my wordpress.

The day is moving slowly to Monday! Hope our Mondays are Mondays with nice surprises.

  1. Interesting post my friend, your writing is great. Everyone is unique and nobady is boring, that’s what many think of themselves (me too sometimes I must admit), but that’s only the mind that tries to make us believe that. Sing your own song and keep on singing and listen to the music of life. Great post, thanks for sharing!

    • Everyone is unique, yep, I so agree with you. I have my own songs I sometimes hum along, and it’s fun doing so. Thanks for your insight, and first and foremost thanks for being here

  2. I agree with you completely. Even though I’ve never done karaoke (I’m too shy, and I’m pretty sure my singing sucks ;), what you said about the power of music is very true. Songs can give you a ‘surge of positive energy’, and even get you through some very hard times. Celebrate uniqueness and celebrate music.

    • I also know some people who have never done karaoke, shared the same opinions as yours, but I guess they are not used to it.When they sing, they are pretty good, I guess.Me?no better than they, hehe.
      Thanks for sharing your insight

  3. I joined the choir and a group of vocal back in high school but now I think if I sing, glasses will start cracking if not end up breaking into pieces. 🙂
ABBA is a nice group and I love their songs. Keep on singing and writing, of course!

    • I did join a choir as well when I was at school. Hahaha- good laugh for the cloudy morning, sis. I guess that’s why you ordered a new pair of glasses? hehe.
ABBA is okay,I only like some of their songs.
      Thanks sis,
      the same to you
